Curt takes us into John 16 and the role of the Holy Spirit. He also talks about how we sometimes act as if the spirit doesn't exist. This is highlighted with a video that shows people who act as if certain things don't exist (no chairs, toothbrushes, fishing poles and golf clubs). If only we had something that we do these things. Well, we do have those things and we do have the spirit to guide and help us. And that is awesome!
We start off with a baby dedication for the Derrick and Mcdonald families. Then Mark looks at John 10 and paints a picture of the relationship between God, the good shepherd, and us, his sheep. With insights and application, it reveals another great metaphor to work into our identities.
Mark speaks from John 8 and looks at the two fathers Jesus describes. The father of lies and the father of truth play powerfully in how we view ourselves, our world and our relationship with God. Who's YOUR daddy?
Dr. Larsen shares from John 7 about Jesus coming from the wrong side of the tracks. We can all identify with this message of worldly judgments vs. God's reality.
Mark talks about the voice becoming person in Jesus and how the voice now speaks in and through us. There is also a powerful story of Danny Aguilar who graduated from the Koinonia House on this day, a halfway house for those leaving jail.
Dr. Larsen delivers a message on waiting highlighting the characters of Simeon and Anna. The Israelites waited for the Messiah and often we too wait for the hand of God to move in our lives. The season of advent is a great opportunity to think on these moments of waiting.
Curt takes a look at the prophetic voice carried by people throughout Biblical history. These voice represent both a forth-telling and a fore-telling to original and future listeners.
Curt continues in the 40 Days of Community talking about what serving together looks like. We also take time to honor Erin Stattman's who has served Life Church faithfully as Children's Pastor for many years.
Curt talks about why we are better together and introduces our primary way to experience community...life groups. Life groups leaders are introduced and talk about the topics of their groups.
Curt intros not just a new series but a new season for the church as he sets up the 40 Days of Community. This will be a time for all of us to go deeper in our understanding of how God designed us to be in relationship with one another.
This week Liz Klausen looks at how wisdom is not static, but dynamic and moving with each moment of our lives. She also takes a look at how folly can be tackled with words of wisdom.
Mark starts the series Heroes- Lady Wisdom by introducing us to Lady Wisdom. There is an experiential element that you will be able to hear slightly in the middle that contrasts the voice of Lady Wisdom with the voice of Madame Folly. Both of these voices are raised in the public square, but only one leads to life. This message concentrates on this voice.
The first part are some incredible stories from the LifeWorks Haiti trip to work with orphans.
The rest is Mark continuing the Heroes series of Samuel as he gives the people what they want, a king. The talk speaks to our own desires to step ahead with our own desires without checking in with God's bigger agenda for our lives.
Currey sets up the next in our Heroes series on the life of Samuel. His birth was as extraordinary as his life. The bottom line is this...our hope is found in a mighty God!TEST
Curt raps up the series on the Game of Life by challenging the church to GO, literally. This summer, we will be ending 15 minutes early each Sunday to give people extra time to go...to lunch, to their neighbors, to their family's. Anything that gets us out of our homes and into world on purpose is what this Sunday and summer are all about.
In the Game of Life we can hold on to what we have or we can make an impact. In this message we are challenged to look beyond ourselves and our own game and see the bigger view from God's perspective.
Mark takes a look at Matthew 6 and 7 as a template for living the life of a giver. This is counterintuitive to us, but Jesus lays out the real path in the game of life that takes finances from a Burden to a Blessing. The talk finishes with a living parable as Don Waldoch shares his own journey that took him out of the anxiety of consumption to the blessing of giving.
Continuing in the series The Game Of Life, Curt talks about the three action words that all Lifers will incorporate into their own game of life. The first one is PRAY. This talk was short because it was mainly an introduction for those who attended on June 7th to actually do it.
Mark takes a look at one of the inevitable things in life...transitions. On the game board of LIFE, there are spaces that say "STOP!" But in real life, we often we blow through a transition without stopping to think about the significance of the moment. What is God doing in me in this season? How can I move forward into the next season? Listen in on transitions in the game of LIFE.
Curt takes a look on the Mother's Day at how mother's provide for us a solid foundation in life by hearing from 3 mothers at different stages in parenting. He also looks at how God the father also holds attributes that we traditionally think of as "mother" attributes. Listen in as we look at foundations in the game of life.
Mark finishes the series (for now) called "In the Red" about the words of Jesus. He looks at at often overlooked passage in Luke where Jesus compares this generation to children shouting at those mourning a funeral or celebrating a wedding. Jesus seems to be sharing that most people settle for a status quo life of faith, without maturing from childishness. How can we avoid this?
Curt kicks of the new series called The Game of Life talking about expectations. What can you expect from your walk with God in the real game of life. Listen in for expectations for your journey ahead.
Mark takes a look at another passage of red letters, this time in Luke, where Jesus confronts those who childishly sit on the sidelines of life and choose not to engage. Or in other words, not live life to the FULL. What is he saying here? Mark unpacks this passage helping us to heed this caution and get the most out of life.
Curt follows up the Easter service with three questions about the resurrection with the last one being "so what?". What is it about this one event that changed everything?
Three powerful, personal stories from people who have had their lives changed by the way, the truth and the life of Jesus. L:isten why these are words to build a life on.
Mark looks at one of the more graphic "red" passages of Jesus when he says if your eye or hand causes you to stumble, get rid of them. Was he serious? What's the message here?
Jesus said some things that to his original audience seemed upside-down. 2000 years later we are still wrestling with his words. But the hardest words of all "follow me" continue to challenge us to the core. Curt takes a look again at the red letters.
Curt looks at more hard sayings of Jesus with the story from John 9 of the man who was born blind. This talk focuses on how to look at God's actions when things don't fit into our box of expectations.

Continuing in our Heroes series, Mark looks at how Daniel was able to live a consistent God-honoring life even though he served several kings in a land where he was taken captive. In light of the innauguration and many other changes happening in society, it is a good reminder to know that we have stories like Daniel's to keep us steady as times are a changin'.
In this series called "Heroes", we take a look at the heroic stories of the men and women of the Old Testament. In this sermon, Curt highlights the life of Daniel, a life that was spent on knees in prayer. In good times or bad, Daniel prayed. This also marks the beginning of 40 days of prayer and fasting for Life Church.
Our annual start of the year includes stories of God' continued faithfulness in our lives. In this celebration service, Lifers share these stories and we give thanks for what he has done and will do in and through us in 2008-9. Mark concluded with a short encouragement during the weekly table (communion) time.
We begin this message with the end of a story told by Mark's daughter, Raegan. It is the story called The Traveler. It is about a man who as a boy decided to pack up all of his time in a suitcase and travel the world to use it well. But he becomes so protective of it that he waits until his last remaining month to spend his time with friends. Mark travels to the book of Luke to take us to the story of Mary and Martha and how they spent their time. He encourages us to look at a differernt kind of currency this year, a relational currency. By practicing the presence of God, we can also share presence with others. This will change our Christmas prioriities to value people's presence over people's presents. Spend less...give more.
Mark begins this sermon with an interview from Chris Beard in honor of World AIDS day. Chris is a pastor in Cincinnati and has been to Malawi, a country in Africa in desperate need because of AIDS.
Then Glen Williamson returns to Life Church to talk to us about what God has to say about our spending habits. He also updates us on the Kenyan project that our Advent Conspiracy will support. Through our efforts, we will be building a well and shelter for the Mbuthia family to help the orphans and underserved children in their community.
Kevin and Sandy Barner, missionaries in Moscow, Russia, share about their multi-national church, International Christian Assembly. Over 50 nations are represented in their church. It's an incredible story you want to hear.
Curt shows us how the good life can be practiced. Rather than settling for the instant gratification of a purchase, God calls us to deeper practices such as contemplative, communal and missional practices. When we build these into our lives, the good life is a steady, fulfilled life full of satisfaction.
Mark looks at another aspect of the Good Life...power and fame. Where does this need come from and how did Jesus handle this? Ecclesiastes says that chasing power is like chasing the wind. How do we stop chasing the wind of fame and begin chasing the wind of the spirit? Join Mark as he explores this deeper and gives a Good Life blueprint.
Curt just returned from Armenia the night before this sermon and saw firsthand the contrast of a nation in desperate need of basic needs and America, a country flush with extras (even when times are bad). The mission fueled in him and the team a passion to live the Good Life, a life of giving. He calls this fuel, an adrenaline rush. What gives you a God-sized rush? Listen as Curt challenges us to live the good life by feeding the rush.
Lifer Doug Shaw has found the secret to joy is no secret at all, it's all about giving. Through storytelling and scripture Doug shows us that the way to increase our joy and to live the good life is to give.
Curt begins the series The Good Life...ancient wisdom for modern living, contrasting the good life of this world with a better life mapped out in God's word.
No, there is no Acts 29 in the Bible, because WE are the next chapter of Acts from Jesus' followers. We hear several stories of what God is doing at Life Church to help us be the next chapter of God's continual plan of restoration. Curt also gives us a look at the new fall series The Good Life.

Curt uses the last verse of Acts to encourage the church that God's message will continue to move forward "without hindrance." We also hear the story of two people caught in a lifestyle of drugs who God delivered. The stories of God's redemption continue...without hindrance.
